Branson Adventure

Off we go to our next adventure with the dogs. We are driving to Branson MO and Lily wore her fancy dress for the drive.

The dogs finally settled down in the car and both ended up on my lap.  I don't do well as a passenger so I took something to help with the motion sickness but it usually knocks me out.  Mike was soon driving in quietness; I'm sure he wasn't complaining about that.

Our first night in Brandson we got a call from the hotel asking us to come back because they had to move three people to different rooms because they were tired of listening to barking dogs.  She then asked how many dogs we had in the room????  Mike said, umm just two very small dogs and she said OH REALLY!!! because it sounds like a whole pack of dogs in there.  When we returned the dogs were going nuts and Rexie was trying to claw and eat his way out of the room. Not a big deal because I referred to the hotel as "murder motel" because it looked like something out of a 1960's scary movie.

Horse back riding in Branson, beautiful in the fall.

Our cute cowboy that lead the way on the ride.

Long day walking and riding, poor Rexie was so tired he couldn't care less if Lily laid right on top of him for the ride back to the "murder motel".

New Adventure Coming Soon

Soon we will be off to a new adventure with the dogs.  I so need a vacation to destress from work which I have put in my noctice; it's time for me to make a change.  I am really hoping on this adventure we will have better access to be able to post.  For what ever reason in Virginia I could not hit any g4 or wireless connections.

Over the summer we gave our deck a facelit and reconfigured the stairs, this was one of the last days we work on the deck while Rexie and Lily watched.  Below shows how we moved the stairs to the side  and in front of the hot tub.

Virginia Adventure Please Don't End.....

We were suppose to leave and take two days to travel back home but we could not seem to find the motivation to drive north west instead we went back south east for more of this.....
We spent the second day back at the beach dreaming about never leaving here.

During the summer months you are not able to bring dogs to the beach here so Rexie and Lily had to stay at the cabin during the day while we spent the two days on the beach.  I don't think they minded all that much this has been a lot for them to be up all day, they are use to sleeping all day while we work.

Spotted dolphins not to far from the shore, at first I thought it was sharks until I heard someone say they were dolphins.  Really awesome to watch them playing in the water there had to be four or five of them.

The ocean is so relaxing I really wish there was a way to pack it up and take it home with us....

Virginia Adventure Scare

We almost lost Lily in Virginia this would not have been an adventure but a tragedy.  We came home late it was dark plus it was rainy.  We quickly ran up the cabin steps to let the dogs out to potty as Mike took the dogs out the door and down the stairs I grabbed the leashes and a flash light and headed down the cabin steps but not on my feet.  Yep, I went down the steps on my butt with a loud thump.  Mike turned around to see what happened and yelled are you ok? OMG! Are you ok, can you get up?  This got Lily freaked out and she ran thinking Mike was yelling AT me not TO me.  We searched  and searched in the dark and looked all over the camp grounds for her and could not find her.  I was so scared and freaking out thinking its dark, wet and she'll be cold probably eaten by wild animals in the woods that surround the camp grounds.  All I could think about was how scared she must be and she is in a strange place and what if she can't find her way back if she's not eaten by wild animals.  Even though I was in extreme pain, wet and tired I was determined to stay up all night and wait for her on the steps of the cabin till she returned. Mike finally got in the truck and went searching came back and said you have to accept that she is gone nothing we can do now.  When he returned he had left the truck door open and who came crawling back with her tail between her leg ready to jump up in the truck......yes, it was Lily!!!!!

Virginia Adventure

Thought these were too funny with the dogs popping through.
No clue what Rexie was looking at I think he was just mad we were using him for a funny photo.
Lilly on the other hand just scared to death we put her head in the hole.

Virginia Adventure Day 4

Today we are off to see my family that lives here in Virginia, if I had to guess I would say it has been about 15 years since I saw them last.  Taking Rexie and Lily with us, my Aunt Lori is a big dog lover herself.

Virginia Adventure Day 3

Dogs got us up early so we went for a bike ride.  Just a little excitement on our ride.  We found the dog park at the KOA and realized we forgot the leashes so we let the dogs off the bikes to run and play (it was a fenced in area) but when Mike decided to ride back Lily wanted to go with and squeezed through the fence running so fast after Mike.  I had to gather Rexie and throw him in the basket to go after Lily.  As I yelled "Lily" she ran faster so I used the magic word TREAT, TREAT!!! and she turned around running back to me.

Now I have two dogs to hold till Mike gets back and what do I see a doe at the edge of the woods eating breakfast.  They never saw the doe thank goodness.

Rexie rides with me, he is such serious fellow.

Dogs stayed at the cabin and Mike and I went to Colonial Williamsburg.  It was very interesting but very hot.

Governors Mansion took 20 years to build.

This is the Ball Room inside the Mansion.  I'm sure Mike is happy he lives in the 20th century and not back in the 1700's can you imagine the honey due list he would have..........

After spending the afternoon being extremely hot and sweaty at Colonial Williamsburg we decided to cool off in the pool.

Virginia Adventure Day 2

We left Kentucky this morning with another 6-7 hour ride before us.  The second day in the car was much more difficult.  Rexie and Lily are not comfortable, they are just not sure what is going on.  My legs feel so tight from being in the car and my body is starting to hurt all over.  In spite of my complaints it's a beautiful ride from Kentucky to West Virginia to Virginia; at times I would look out the and think there is no end to this drive just mountains and mountains forever and ever.

At the Virginia line visitors center and Rexie poohed on the lamp post, really Rex???

As you can see we made it and our cabin is perfect for this trip because we have the dogs.

Virginia Adventure Day 1

Today we ventured off to Virginia with the two dogs.  Mike was packing the car and if you look close you can see Rexie already in the car; he was going to make sure we didn't leave him behind.
Less than an hour into the trip I was sitting cross legged in the car desperately in need of a pit stop.  The next hour again I was needing another pit stop and a stop for us is not fast with the dogs.  Mike reminded me if we stop every hour we will never make it to Kentucky where we are staying the night and then in the morning finishing the ride to Virginia.
Rexie and Lily did good in the car.  Of course Rexie found his place on my lap and Lily found her place in the back seat on top of the pillows and blankets.
Well look at that we did make it to Kentucky, yeah!!!!!
Smile everyone!!!
This is the little cabin in Kentucky we are staying in for the night.  It's very nice and clean and the older couple next to us is very nice and chatty.
Mike found a wasp nest after being stung.  Took care of that ASAP!  I found a tick on me :(

Can't Leave Home Without Them

It looks as though we could never leave home without Rexie and Lily.....
Lily got in Mike's suite case he was packing for an out of town business trip.  It's usually the car she gets in when you open the doors to put something in there.

Sunday Morning Ride

It's Sunday morning and the sun is shinning so I thought great time to take the dogs on the bike for a nice ride and I get some exercise.  Rexie is a good rider and always have been I guess you could say he was born to ride!
Lily is still scared when she first starts off but settles down once we get going.
I have a small wire mesh basket on my bike that is not so comfy for the dogs plus the wire mesh seems to always snag their nails.  And because we are taking our bikes on our trip I decided to ordered new baskets for the dogs that will be much more safe and comfortable for them to ride this summer.  The new baskets snaps on easily and pops off so you can use the shoulder strap and the basket is now a carrier.  There is side pockets for storage and even a canopy that protects them from the sun or rain if needed or you can just tuck it away and let them ride with the wind in their faces.

How It All Began......

How this blog got started....in the picture that is Rexie on the left and Lily on the right and of course me in the pink jacket.  I know you didn't think the two dogs would be typing this but then again you never know these days (they are teaching dogs to drive cars). Oh and taking the picture is hubby, yes while driving.

A few weeks ago hubby came home from work and said his parents asked if we would like to go on vacation with them and his two sisters and their families to the east coast.  After much talk about would this fit into our schedules, what about the dogs and we knew the boys wouldn't go; they work and are doing their own thing these days.  We decided why not lets figure out a way to make this work we could use a vacation.  So the planning and trying to figure out what to do with the dogs began.  Even though the two dogs are both small not every one excepts them. And we found out recently the two don't do well in hotels; makes for a sleepless night because two dogs on high alter don't sleep either.  We knew we couldn't have someone watch them because all we would do is worry about them being over feed (again) and what if they run off and ended up on the county road dead or if we boarded them Rexie may bite a worker and we would get the call to come and pick him up he is being tossed out of the pet hotel and so many more situations that could happen it's exhausting to even think about them much less blog about them.

Now what???

That is when we started to brain storm like mad.  What about if we rented an RV, it would be like we have our own place and there has to be places we could pull over to sleep and once we are there the dogs would be use to the RV and they would sleep and feel comfortable right?  Nope now everywhere we go you're driving around in a big RV and by the time you add up rental fees for the RV and the gas heck we could by a small place (not really but you get my drift).  Keep brain storming....... what about cabins in the area at a KOA, but do they allow pets?  Google search started and yes we found some KOA's that allowed you to bring your furry friends.  So close to where the rest of the family will stay is a KOA that allows pets in the cabins.  Then we started to think wait now is this really a vacation if were going to rough it in a cabin with no bathroom and no air condition???  With more searching we found cabins that were what they call deluxe cabins with linens, bathrooms, small kitchenettes and some that are climate controlled.  Now it's looking good again.  Now the goal was to find KOA's on our route to break up the drive there and back and we did.  Looks like we are set and ready to go with two in tow!!!!!

Then the comment was made we should sign into Rexie and Lily's facebook account (yes they have their on page) and document the trip.  And I took it a step further and said why not make a blog!

So this is how it all began........................

This is not their first adventure last year they went with us when we went camping and took a cano ride down the river.  This should be fun, crazy and what the hell am I thinking driving two days in the car with these two.......

Stay tune for The Adventures of Rexie and Lily!
